Before the airport can be expanded, the plans must be approved both by the FAA and the OSU Board of Trustees. Below is the current schedule, although historically the dates have changed frequently (including 3 days following the orignial publication of this page).

| Second Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) submitted to FAA for review.
Because of all the problems identified in the first EA, OSU and the FAA have
decided to create a second draft for internal review. |
| |
| Friday, April 1, 2005 | The public comment period for the Environmental Assessment begins. During this time, the final version will be made available for public inspection. Written comments can be made to the FAA. They must consider every comment during the approval process. |
|
| Monday, April 25, 2005 | Public Hearing for the Environmental Assessment. Ohio State will hold a showing of the environmental assessment. This will be a one-way flow of information, that is they will not be answering questions at this time. |
|
| On or After Saturday, April 30, 2005 | Public comment period will end. Legally, the public comment period can end no earlier than this date. OSU has not announced the final date yet. | |
| Wednesday, June 8, 2005 | Presentation of OSU Airport Master Plan to the OSU Board of Trustees. The Dean of Engineering will present the proposed Airport Master Plan, which includes the EA study and airport expansion plans, to the full Board of Trustees. He will also present his "recommendation" on whether expansion should take place or not. Board meetings are usually held in the Grand Lounge of the Longaberger Alumni House. |
|
| Friday, July 8, 2005 | OSU Board of Trustees may votes on whether to approve the expansion plan. The Board is likely to take action one monthy following the Dean of Engineering's formal presentation. | |
| Summer/Fall 2005 | FAA review of the Environmental Assessment is complete. The FAA will either issue a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) which means that expansion may proceed, or they will find that a full Environmental Impact Study (EIS) must be completed and approved. Review of the EIS may or may not allow OSU to expand the airport |
